Ceramic Catalytic Converters

A ceramic catalytic converter is a device found in most modern vehicles that helps to reduce harmful emissions. It contains a ceramic monolith coated with precious metals, such as Platinum, Palladium, and Rhodium, that act as a catalyst to convert harmful pollutants into less harmful substances. At TDH Trading, we purchase ceramic catalytic converters either by unit based on the local market price or through a detailed analysis process. For analysis, we carefully sample it and the price we offer will depend on the amount of precious metals present in the substance and the current market price. Rest assured, we strive to offer fair prices for all our transactions.

Metallic Catalytic Converters

A metallic catalytic converter is another type of device used in vehicles to reduce harmful emissions. Unlike ceramic catalytic converters, metallic catalysts cannot be sampled and analyzed immediately due to a lengthy technological process. However, at TDH Trading, we still offer competitive prices for genuine metallic catalytic converters, based on the local market price per unit. Our experienced team will ensure that you receive a fair and accurate valuation for your metallic catalytic converter, making it a hassle-free process for you.

Electronic Scrap

In addition to ceramic and metallic catalytic converters, TDH Trading also purchases e-waste. E-waste refers to electronic waste, which includes any type of electronic device or equipment that is no longer in use, such as computers, mobile phones, televisions, and more. We understand the importance of proper disposal of e-waste and offer a responsible and sustainable solution for disposing of it. Our team of experts ensures that all e-waste is processed in an environmentally-friendly manner. If you have any e-waste to sell, TDH Trading offers competitive prices and a simple transaction process.

FAQ

To calculate the price of automotive catalysts, two main factors are considered: the weight of the catalyst and the amount of precious metals it contains. However, the price of these precious metals isn’t stable and fluctuates regularly, as announced by the London noble metals’ market. As a result, the purchase price of automotive catalysts may change accordingly.

The converters undergo a decanting process, which involves removing the ceramic or metallic catalyst from the steel can using special cutting devices. The resulting steel is sorted by quality and sold as secondary scrap to steel plants. The ceramic pieces that are decanted undergo treatment processes to extract the precious metals they contain.

Catalytic converters get recycled by removing valuable metals from them. This process is called “de-canning”. The “de-canning” process for catalytic converters involves removing the valuable metals from the converter’s substrate. This is typically done by cutting or shearing the converter open to expose the substrate. Then, the substrate is crushed and milled to a fine powder to extract the valuable metals. These metals, such as platinum, palladium, and rhodium, are then sold to manufacturers who use them in various products, including new catalytic converters. The remaining materials, such as ceramic and steel, are also recycled. The de-canning process requires specialized equipment and experienced technicians to ensure that the metals are extracted efficiently and safely.

Recycling electronic waste, or e-waste, is important because it helps us to properly dispose of potentially dangerous materials in electronics, prevents environmental damage and health risks, and saves valuable resources that can be reused for new products. E-waste often contains precious metals such as gold, silver, and copper that can be extracted and reused in other products. By recycling e-waste, we can reduce the amount of waste in landfills, protect the environment, and conserve natural resources.
